| Beer Review: Harpoon Summer Beer (German Kolsch) |
| This beer poured a light golden color with 2-3 inches of fluffy, big-bubbled head that gradually dissipated to a thin layer and left fingers of lacing on the glass. The aroma is delicate to a fault with just a bit of wheat and hops. The first sip is mostly carbonation and a slight alcohol bite, and develops into mild hops and a bit of a floral aftertaste. Mouthfeel is light but not quite watery, thoroughly coating the mouth but also having a nicely dry finish, which is really the only thing that distinguishes this from more mass-market brews for me.
Overall a plain, refreshing beer that enhanced the spiciness of the chicken coconut curry I had it with, but not something I'll likely be seeking out in the future.

| Beer Review: Weyerbacher - Merry Monks' Belgian Style Golden Ale |
| This brew poured a slightly cloudy, goldenrod color with a thick bubbly head that quickly reduced to thin layer of foam, with plenty of tiny bubbles rising from the bottom of the glass.
Malt and yeasty doughiness come across in the nose, smelling not unlike Play-doh. The first taste is surprisingly creamy for a Belgian Golden, and not as carbonated as I'd expected from the appearance. Mouthfeel is creamy but goes down easy. A hint of hops at the finish makes this beer hard to put down.
I didn't get any alcohol taste from this beer, so I was shocked to check the bottle and discover that it clocks in at 9.3% ABV. I've heard this beer described as tasting like cream soda, and the comparison is justified. Overall, this is a delicious beer of which I could easily drink several. This could quickly become a favorite, despite Belgian Goldens not generally being a preferred style for me.

| A Suggestion |
1.) Download the Top Gun theme song. And not fucking Danger Zone, but the glorious, wailing guitar instrumental... you know the one. 2.) Copy the Top Gun theme to your digital music player of choice. 3.) Forget you ever did 1 and 2.
Follow these directions carefully, and I guarantee your day will be made at some undetermined point in the future when that ominous, overprocessed hi-hat randomly fills your car and you recognize it as the undeniable bellwether of certain awesomeness to come. That day, ye shall truly know what it is to be smiled upon by the shuffle.

| Things I Like |
In my triumphant return to the realm of EE, i give you..... things i like.
Puls Radio is a dandy little stream out of somewhere in Europe that is cooler than here. It is mostly good to just leave on all the time. I considered lugging my desktop into the bathroom, but decided that I would rather just take quicker showers.
Gaim is a handy little program by the good folks at sourceforge. It offers tabbed chat windows and the ability to float the pointer over a buddy to reveal their away message. Think of how long it will extend the life of your mouse buttons!
Finally, in my return to state college, i have once again encountered the run-walk. A very interesting phenomenon, the run-walk occurs when someone is relatively late for an event, say class, and chooses to navigate his/her way to said event in an alternating combination of running and walking. Perhaps it is because s/he cannot maintain a constant run that the alternation occurs, but i'd venture to say that said person believes that, by switching back and forth between running and walking, they are in essence, not really running to class, which is embarassing. Honestly, who in their right mind would want to be seen running to class? Instead, said person runs a bit, then walks a bit, then runs a bit, then walks a bit, apparently oblvious to the attention that they are drawing to themselves.
Today i saw a run-walk in sandals in the snow. Today was a good day.
